实验室建设经历了三个阶段：1999年12月经江苏省教育厅批准成立了 “江苏省化学工程与技术重点实验室”，2002年10月重组为 “江苏省材料化学工程重点实验室”，2004年11月纳入江苏省首批国家重点实验室建设培育点序列；2005年7月经国家教育部批准，成为“省部共建材料化学工程教育部重点实验室”；2007年10月国家科技部正式批准建设“材料化学工程国家重点实验室”。 实验室现有建筑面积45000平方米，拥有一批材料微结构表征与宏观性能测试等仪器设备，在“材料结构与传递现象、材料制备的化学工程方法、材料的化学工程应用”三个研究方向上逐步显示了自己的特色与优势，形成了以3位院士为带头人，以青年博士生导师和海外归国博士为主体，年轻博士为骨干的研究队伍。 实验室面向国家重大需求和国际学术前沿，以建设材料化学工程领域高水平的科学研究、人才培养和学术交流基地为目标，围绕“用化学工程的理论与方法指导材料制备与加工过程”、“发展以新材料为基础的化工单元技术与理论”的学术思路，开展创新性应用基础研究，致力于解决制约我国过程工业可持续发展的能源、资源和环境等瓶颈问题，构建化学工程与材料学科交叉研究的平台。 The laboratory is devoted to frontier research in the area of “Materials-Oriented Chemical Engineering” to meet the basic scientific challenges and the needs of the nation’s technological advancement. The program aims to resolve the bottleneck problems in energy, natural resources, and environment that are restraining the sustainable development of the manufacturing industry through the “applications of chemical engineering principles and methodologies to the development and processing of novel materials” and the “development of advanced chemical technologies based on new materials and unit operations theories”. The Laboratory provides a platform with world class facilities for innovative interdisciplinary research, higher education, and international academic exchange and collaborations.
